Knowledge
Gaining knowledge happens from
two perspectives, esoteric and exoteric. Esoteric knowledge deals with the subjective
(spiritual) side of life. Exoteric knowledge treats the objective (material)
side.
Esoteric knowledge is concerned with energy and force. Exoteric knowledge is concerned with energized things. Until individuals achieve the faculty of ascertaining subjective information (soul
contact), whole ranges of fact will remain beyond the scope of consciousness for most people.
The goal of evolution is
the attainment of consciousness on all planes. Owing to the small evolutionary
attainment of earth’s races, only the physical plane has been brought somewhat under conscious control.
Wisdom and Education
Wisdom is understanding. Wisdom is essential to understanding cosmic conditions. The Father has mobilized the resources of divine wisdom
in a never-ending effort to reveal himself to the children of his universal domains.
Education
is the business of life at all levels. It must continue throughout life so that
mankind may gradually experience and achieve the seven ascending levels of mortal wisdom:
1. The knowledge of things
2. The realization of meanings
3. The appreciation of values
4. The nobility of work, duty
5. The motivation of goals, morality
6. The love of service, character
7. Cosmic insight, spiritual discernment
Through these achievements, humans ascend to the ultimate
of mind attainment, God-consciousness.
A high and still unattained level of wisdom for fused
personalities occurs after their induction into the seventh stage of spirit existence. Such perfected beings of evolutionary
ascent will become the most effective universe administrators ever known in all creation. This is the high destiny of perfected
mortals.
Cause and Effect
While cause and effect are
separate events in the illusion of time and space, they are inseparable in reality.
The impact of cause and effect (or repercussive synthesis) rules every entity becoming soul through the medium of matter.
The rules of justice and
mercy scrutinize thoughts (cause) and deeds (effects). Negative thoughts and
deeds attach to the actor until disintegrated through his effort.
Our planet is one of the most mysterious
of all the planets. The negative debt of our planetary ruler (Caligastia) is heavy due to his rebellious nature. The effects of his sins rest upon all entities transitioning through the planet.
The
Nature of Symbols
Symbols both cloak and reveal information. Symbols assist
the little evolved. They teach and preserve great truths in a simple form.
There are four kinds of symbols:
- Physical objects.
- Symbols of an emotional nature, for example, pictures.
- Symbols of the lower mental plane, for example,
numbers.
- The abstract symbolism of the higher mental plane such
as geometry.
Actually, everything is symbol. It is necessary to master symbols. Humans
should view all forms as symbol. The reality of the idea behind the symbolic
form is far more potent and complete than the form symbol through which it is seeking expression. Forms of every kind in all the kingdoms of nature are symbols of life.
Each life remains a mystery.
Man builds forms and creates symbols
every day. Man is a creator because he utilizes the faculty and quality of mind.
The Urge for Salvation
The urge to work for salvation
underlies all the evolutionary processes, particularly in the human family. The
instinct to betterment, the compulsion to progress, the steady effort
to improve conditions, are
all expressions of the instinct for salvation.
The work of salvaging (salvation)
is the impulse that impelled the Supreme to enter into form life. This instinct
impels life on to the involutionary arc to descend into matter producing the immanence of God.
While the urge for salvation
also drives humanity forward into its wild struggle for material well-being, instinct eventually urges man to turn his back
upon the world. The new urge to serve, to relinquish selfishness for service,
is the underlying story of evolution.
The Study of Revelation
All life is opportunity. Individual reaction to opportunity is one of the factors that show soul growth. Spiritual work can only go forward because of the free choice and self-initiated effort of individuals,
but the effort to understand spiritual teaching carries its own reward. The attempt
to grasp and comprehend the soul leads inevitably to an unfolding of the mental apparatus with a subsequent development of
the brain cells. This unfolding produces a coordination of the thinking faculty
and resultant illumination.
The study of revelation increases
one’s responsibility to work for the implementation
of the divine plan for mankind. Deity gives revelation to man to achieve group cooperation and understanding not for
individual benefit.
Through sincere study, group interplay
is established both on the physical and super material levels. Ideally, individuals
in a study group link more closely together. As a group, they blend more closely
to unfold the plan. The formation and development of a band of pledged aspirants,
trained to work together and to respond in unison to the teaching, is vital.
Men see only a tiny portion of
the divine plan. The revelators see the plan as it unfolds for a series of lives
ahead. This is the reason they seek men who will work in groups. A group constitutes an active unit participating in the vast happenings that lie ahead. The same organizational groupings often continue after death.
The Evolution of Ideas
The main problem in the world
today is the selection and wise use of the best ideas. In a world of ever faster
and wider communication, good and bad ideas pour forth upon world. Citizens have
little time for consideration or clear thinking.
Racial and religious hatreds
purposely deceive the unthinking. Good orators with good speechwriters and the
backing of special interests voice grievances, juggle statistics, and capture a following.
Today, no training provides diplomats
with a process for the true interpretation of ideas. In time, when the world
recognizes this problem, it will act with wisdom and train its statesmen with more care. These diplomats will be men and women
of good character and high mental caliber. They will be free from personal ambition
and selfishness. They will be motivated by a love of humanity and by a desire
to help the world. Such men are spiritual men.
Education should portray the soul
of man as the dynamic that produces the good, the true and the beautiful. Theology cannot accomplish this. Education should
inspire human achievement.
Cultural
Decay
A general decay has begun in all fields of human
expression. Worn-out religious dogmas no longer satisfy thoughtful people.
Man’s aging political schools of thought
are also unsatisfactory.
While solutions should reside in education,
educational programs are worsening. Everywhere, the better human minds seek change to higher standards in education.
The family is the
building block of society. Family serves not just the interests of mature males
and females, but also the interests of their children and their community. The primary roles of the family are reproductive,
economic, social, and educational. It is through family that children first absorb culture.
The home will
always be the basic institution for passing the cultural torch to the next generation. Healthy children need an environment
rich in play, social life, and schooling. By raising the standards for
educating the younger generation, man will change the evolutionary course of civilization.
Humanity's Hope
In every nation, there are men and women working towards unification.
They realize that force is ineffective. The results of forced solutions are temporary and the losses in life and assets are
too great.
Sound education is the hope for a more enlightened humanity. In true reality,
there is no Jew, Muslim, Christian, American, or Iraqi. There is just humanity.
Refocusing
Education should focus attention on the outstanding
personalities of history, literature, art, and religion teaching the young about their positive influence, and how to follow
their examples.
Education today stresses militancy, ego exaltation, and
seeking success in material gain.
It is vital to remove the control of education from profit-motivated
leaders and give it to altruistic philosophers and scientists. Students must learn character development.
Teachers must seek wisdom by expanding their vision to global,
idealistic, self-realizing, and cosmic endeavors.
Sex Education
All parents should provide sex education for their children.
In addition, sex education in the schools, while separated, must be the same for both sexes. This will remove many of the
destructive attitudes towards sex and sexual practices.
Today’s sexual education of youth
teaches them to avoid practices that will harm their health or place the load of children on them too early. The ideas of ideal family life should prevail.
